Picking the Right Attorney

September 26, 2013

Many people who are going through a family law issue have never had to hire an attorney or have even dealt with the court process. Attorney Edgar has commented “we find good people going through one of the worst times in their lives.” Divorce can be emotionally and physically difficult and finding the right attorney can make a big difference.

Both the attorney and client must be honest with one another. The client must be open and honest with the attorney. Similarly, the attorney should be honest with the client and advise them on the possible outcome of the legal matter. This is often a difficult conversation because the client is told something that he may not want to hear but it is the attorney’s job to advise the client about realistic expectations. You do not want a “salesman” that is just going to tell you what you want to hear and not deliver on the promises that they make. You want an advocate that is going to put you in the best position to be successful in achieving the outcome that you and your family deserve, if it is long court battle or if you working towards an amicable resolution.
